On our hike around campus we stopped at many of the different buildings and talked a little about what it is, what it used to be used for, who it is named after, etc. We started at the top by the girls dorms and ended down by Pākī. There was a lot of information we spoke about but one thing that really stood out to me was when we were talking about Haleakalā. Haleakalā is now used for classes like ceramics, printmaking, and many more. But in the old days, Haleakalā was actually used for the cafeteria. The way that the classrooms are set up are set up in a way that used to be used for where the students ate lunch. A second thing that was interesting is that Kaʻahumanu gym used to be the auditorium. We use the buildings in so much different ways today from how they were used a long time ago. Another super interesting thing we talked about was how the road coming up to Konia from Akahi used to be a separation point. Boys would have to stay below that road, and girls would have to stay above it. I thought that was crazy because they were not allowed to pass that point. I couldn't even imagine if it was still like that today.
